This image was taken at Wrightsville Beach, NC with a Nikon D5500 DSLR camera with a 40mm prime lens. The image was taken in color but I converted it to Black & White in Lightroom software. Of all the photos I’ve posted on my Substack in the last three months this one is the by far the most popular getting 800 views. I ask myself what is it about this picture that people like? Is it the dramatic contrast in the sky, or possibly the subject matter of the beach or is it the composition? I do like the possibilities to create dramatic images with Black & White photography. The ocean is beautiful but kinda difficult to photograph maybe because of the simplicity.
